Development, characterization and Bioassay of transgenic indica rices suitable to Eastern India.

• The programme deals with the development of transgenic rices with genes that confer additional levels of tolerance to different biotic stresses like yellow stem borer (Bt genes), Sheath blight (Chitinase gene) and Submergence (PDC gene).

• The genes are being cloned into suitable cloning vectors and the transfornation is being attempted with a natural vector of Agrobacterium tumifaciens.
